Comprehensive Therapy Center
Established in 1982, Comprehensive Therapy Center’s mission is to meet the therapeutic and educational needs of adults and children with disabilities who are at-risk or disadvantaged, through skill building, academic enhancement, and social-emotional support. We help adults keep or increase their independence. We help children to walk, talk, learn, and play.

This is a great question for our organization because we have big dreams for ourcommunity and the families we serve. If funding was and must we would want to makesure that no family has to pay anything for the life-changing services we provide. Welove having the opportunity to set our families up for the success they deserve. Providing occupational therapy, speech therapy and social-emotional support to the most vulnerable populations gives us the opportunity to make sure that every child, no matter their struggles, is offered the greatest chance for success in the long run. As part of providing these services, our long-term goal is to not only expand our individual programs but also expand our clinic. We would love to be able to have all our programs housed under one roof. Our biggest dream is to have a school building with all its amenities to host our clinic services and programs, as well as our bridge programs that occur over school breaks.
CTC always has one major goal when raising money for our organization- the people we serve are always at the forefront of what we do. We never want to turn anyone away because of individual financial circumstances, and with most of our clientele living under the poverty line, it is of the upmost importance that we provide affordable care to meet their needs. The money we raise always goes to lowering costs and supporting the programs that serve our families. Through GR Giving Day, Comprehensive Therapy Center would love to raise $5,000. The majority of the funds raised would go to our flagship program called Therapy & Fun and Therapy & Life Skills. It would provide scholarships to the most vulnerable individuals in our community. Therapy & Fun and Therapy & Life Skills is a seven-week summer program set up similar to a day camp. Children ages 3-15, with a range of developmental disabilities, attend three days per week and participate in activities facilitated by our therapists (speech, occupational, and mental health) and peer-to-peer volunteers. Activities include one-on-one speech and occupational therapy, group therapy, sensory play, life skills, games, crafts and more. Over the summer, clients can build their speech, motor, and social skills so they can be prepared for the school year ahead. Our Therapy & Fun program serves around 55 students every summer, and they complete a combined total of almost 3400 hours of therapy! We excitedly welcome over 40 volunteers who donate over 2,200 hours of their time to help these children walk, talk, learn and play. This program is what started it all and brings us so much joy every year to see so muchsuccess! We love seeing children say their first words or giving their loved ones a kissfor the first time. The small successes are more impactful than anyone can understand.Children with developmental differences deserve the opportunity for an equal playingfield. Our programs help them achieve that. The direct impact of raising these funds is simple. It gives our families the opportunity toreceive services that they wouldn’t normally be able to access because of financialrestrictions. No one should be turned away from the opportunity to receive life-changingtherapeutic services. We see the direct impact every time we meet with an individualand they are able to achieve their goals. The funding received would allow us to continue to grow our scholarship program andexpand the number of clients we serve. Again, CTC prides itself on never turning anyoneaway because of financial restrictions. Receiving this sum of funding would allow usto maintain our current scholarship level and expand the number of individuals we canserve. Serving such a broad community with many different needs we are always lookingfor ways to maintain the stability of our scholarship program because we knowdevelopmental differences can affect anyone. CTC wants to remain a key support in theWest Michigan community for years to come.
